Summerbridge Methodist Church was built in 1894, replacing a Wesleyan Chapel situated where the village school currently stands. We are one of seven churches in the Pateley Bridge Methodist Circuit, and part of an ecumenical alliance called the Church in the Dale. The Church is known for the warm welcome it offers to everyone, as well as its vibrant Young Church and youth and children’s work. We are passionate about reaching out to our community in evangelism and service.

EVANGELISM Showing God’s love to all we encounter, without condition. Displaying personal integrity and honesty in all that we do, within and outside the church. Helping those who are not yet Christians to have the opportunity of a relationship with God, while recognising the working of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives.

WORSHIP Setting aside time for visible, energetic celebration of God’s love. Being a prayerful community, together and individually, as we expectantly seek God’s will for our church and our lives. Celebrating, praising and honouring God through all of our words, actions and thoughts.

FELLOWSHIP Building warm, creative relationships which affirm the positive message of God. Valuing and respecting each person as an individual. Encouraging small groups for fellowship, study and action. Offering support and comfort through difficulties while also celebrating success and achievement.

DISCIPLESHIP Being Christ-centred in all that we do, seeking to become like Jesus. Providing and receiving biblically-based teaching, expressing it in a contemporary context in a way that can influence our everyday actions and responses. Encouraging and pursuing spiritual growth and discipleship.

SERVICE Recognising that God has given each person individual gifts to be used in his service. Encouraging all to discover and use their ifts. Serving God’s world, locally and globally, involved in our communities and in unity with other Christian churches. Where possible, ready to take calculated risks in His name.
